Special Thank You to Our Sponsors!

This November, we invite you to join Voices Empower: Walk to Break the Silence. This 6 km walk is a time to reflect on and bring awareness to the increase of femicide.

Join us in walking on November 30, 2024, to support women and children in Waterloo Region experiencing domestic violence.

Why We Walk

Every 6 days in Canada, a woman is killed

by her intimate partner.

There were 187 femicides in Canada in 2023, up from 184 in 2022. Thirty-two
femicides
were committed in the first 6 months of 2024 in Ontario alone.

The increase and escalation of violence against women calls for action. We must
continue raising awareness and funds to prevent these tragedies from happening.

Together, we can make an impact.

As we come together for Voices Empower: Walk to Break the Silence, we show support for those who have lost their lives and who are experiencing or recovering from domestic violence.

We encourage you to get a team together, wear your best purple outfit, and join us on November 30th, 2024 at 1:00 pm in Waterloo Public Square, to show your support for women and children experiencing domestic violence.

Proceeds from the event will help provide safe shelter and outreach services to women and children moving beyond violence in Waterloo Region.
