Hats Off to Mom! – Cancelled for May 10, 2020
Due to concern around the growing impact of COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our upcoming Mother’s Day fundraiser, “Hats Off to Mom!” which was scheduled for Sunday, May 10, 2020. It is an especially difficult time for our organization and this decision was not made lightly.
We are very disappointed to share this news. We rely heavily on fundraisers like these to continue our day-to-day operations. Not to mention we were very excited to see all your great hats at the event this year! We are still thinking about ways we can connect as a community to celebrate mothers, while supporting the moms and children in our shelters. We will be sure to touch base as ideas arise.
For those wondering what you can do in the meantime, here are some thoughts.
How You Can Help
Let us know if you would like to donate your ticket. If you choose to donate the value of your ticket, we will be able to provide you with a tax receipt. Contact our Fundraising team today. Thank you for your support – it is greatly needed and appreciated at this time.
Stay Tuned for our Online Auction
Since we cannot move forward with the event, we are planning to facilitate an online auction instead. There is sure to be some great prizes up for grabs! We will provide more details as soon as we can, stay tuned.
Help us Raise Awareness and Funds
Despite these challenging times, we are still providing safe shelter and support services to women and children who are experiencing domestic violence. Unfortunately, home is not a safe place for everyone. We know that violence can escalate during natural disasters and times of increased stress. As social distancing is urged to contain the spread of COVID-19, we recognize that home is where the danger lies for some.
Help us spread the word about women and children who are impacted. Connect with us on Facebook and Twitter (@WomensCrisisSWR) and consider sharing some of our posts. You can also help by creating your own online fundraiser through CanadaHelps and sharing on social media.
Thank you for your continued support. We are grateful for our community and we know that together, we can get through this challenging time.
