Early Intervention

Providing wraparound support to people experiencing violence.

Providing Resources in the Community

Through the Early Intervention Program, a Women’s Crisis Services worker spends dedicated time with Waterloo Regional Police Services to provide resources and support to couples experiencing domestic violence.

Couples who have two intimate partner violence service calls in two months receive a call from our Outreach worker to provide information about Women’s Crisis Services support services and the Early Intervention Program. The Early Intervention Program is based out of the Family Violence Project.

This program allows us to provide couples with more support, sooner.

What is the Family Violence Project?

The Family Violence Project of Waterloo Region is a welcoming, supportive space where community partners work together from one location.

“I felt very guilty for reaching out for support
and didn’t think what I was experiencing was enough
to qualify as domestic violence. I now know this is not
the case and that I was in a very harmful situation.”

“My worker went above and beyond to help me. I was in a situation where she was able to collaborate with detectives, advocate for me, which ultimately kept my situation top of mind. With her influence, the team stayed motivated, brainstormed solutions and two individuals even started their shifts early. This all would not have happened if it wasn’t for my worker’s hard work.

“My worker’s kindness, compassion and empathy towards not only myself, but my son has well, has been so greatly appreciated and supportive during these difficult months. My worker is, and continues to be a huge support system in my life. She has connected me with many resources that have made a huge difference and helped me on my journey, including, counselling, housing, legal background documentation to present to a family law lawyer, and been a huge advocate when I needed support talking to victim witness.”
